The alchemy of ceramics is a process, philosophy and science that has captivated me for years and it is the foundation on which I create. The process involves transforming one material (clay) into another material (rock) through utilizing the Earths elements; earth, water, fire, and air. What it does to me in the process is incredible. I feel transported to another realm when I get into the groove of creating, loosing track of time and place. My ideas, intuition and creativity flow from this realm, not of the physical, but of the non-physical or spiritual. I feel connection with my environment by using its clay to create works reflecting natures beauty and animism. I am part of nature, spirit and life and my work is a reflection, action and manifestation of this philosophy. Life is art and art is life!
